Spectroscopy plays a fundamental role in modern bioanalytics, offering powerful tools to analyze biomolecules, their interactions, and structural properties with remarkable precision. By utilizing light-matter interactions across different regions of the electromagnetic spectrum, spectroscopic techniques enable researchers to probe the composition, dynamics and functions of biological systems. From clinical diagnostics to pharmaceutical development and environmental monitoring, these methods have become indispensable in both fundamental research and applied sciences.

This lecture will provide an insightful overview of key spectroscopic methods used in bioanalytics, highlighting their principles, advantages, and practical applications. We will explore widely used techniques such as UV-Vis spectroscopy, Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy, Raman spectroscopy, fluorescence spectroscopy, circular dichroism (CD) spectroscopy, and dynamic light scattering (DLS) spectrometry. Each of these methods provides unique insights into biomolecular properties, complementing one another in the quest for a deeper understanding of biological processes. By integrating and mathematically combining these diverse spectroscopic methods, researchers can gain even more comprehensive understanding of biomolecular structure, dynamics and interactions.
